Jordanelle report
#1

Got to try out my "new boat" today on Jordanelle. The gentleman I bought it from took my buddy and I out to show us how to fish the boat which was great, nice guy I will probably fish with in the future. The boat checked out fantastic and it was great getting a run through with the previous owner to learn all the "little things" that are can be frustrating when you are are "new" boat owner. We fished for about 5 hrs trolling different crankbaits at several different depths including getting familiarized with the downriggers. We probably caught 40 planter rainbows, all 10-12 inches. We were hoping to catch a few big browns but not today. Water was close to 40 degrees the whole day. I haven;t ever fished Bear Lake but the promising reports might get us up there next weekend. Cheers

Sounds like you had a good day on the lake. I also like to take out the person that buys boats from me, it makes it easier on the new owner and while you might know the limits of your boat, the new owner won't, so it give them a chance to see what it can do. What kind and size of boat did you get?

The bout I bought is a Campiom 185 Explorer. It has a Mercury 15O hp outboard and a 9.9 Mercurey (Yamaha) trolling motor. It has 2 Cannon electric down riggers, nice stereo ect. The boat is 20 years old but you would not believe it as it has been lovingly and meticulously cared for. Every thing on it works and it is clean, clean. You may know the owner of this boa, Jay as he has been a fishing Utah hard for many years. Thanks for asking and give me a heads up if you see me in this boat- cheers

Nice report.

Bear lake is fun to fish. There are nice sized Trout in it.

You can also troll deep for the Makinaw. [cool]

What is a 9.9 Mercurey (Yamaha) trolling motor? Your boat sounds like it is set up well, you should get many years of use out of it.

The previous owner said that although the trolling motor looks like a regular Mercury motor, that it was made for Mercury by Yamaha? 9.9 hp-cheers

I think the guy meant Nissan, because Mercury never made a Yamaha. An easy way to tell is by the color of the motor, Nissan and Mercury are black, Yamaha are light blue, almost a purple color. Merc makes Nissan.
