BFT IS INFECTED WITH A VIRUS
#1
That's twice in the last week I've opened the site and instantly been hit with a virus that leaps past Malware, both times I've done a full scan and sure enough, there it is.

Please send as any details regarding this, we are aware that many users have been having problems with viruses lately but we have completely audited the website and can find nothing to indicate the website is infected.

We will continue to look into this but the details we have from other users indicate a virus that is browser based and isn't related to the website at all. I know this is frustrating but the more details you can send we will continue to look into this.

No evidence of infection here, but I'm surprised at the popups on android. About every tenth visit.
See attached screen shot.

This is what I've seen. Samsung tablet, Android OS?

Seems to lead to a pop up page that wants you to download some scanner software. Seems like a spoof, despite the warnings the virus will steal passwords and credit cards.

I'll try to snap a screenshot nextt time. I've had it pop up a few times.

My assumption is it's tied to one of the multitude of ads.

Geting it in IE, will open in Firefox, Safari and Chrome to see if it occurs again. Kind of spooky to open the site at all.

It's the one telling you that you have a virus and to allow it to do a scan.

DO NOT EVER LET ONE OF THESE MESSAGES DO A SCAN, that's when it downloads the virus.

I use IE for 99.9% of my web activity. In the last week I've had it come up twice on this site, but not on any others.

The first time was when I opened the Utah page (saved as favorite) then the other day, things were fine, today it was fine till I checked the for sale UT page, that's when it popped up.

I'm using chrome now, no problem.

This happened to me on my phone also! The virus/trojan according to my android phone brought me to a porn site i tried to back out of it and it brought me to the google play store to a porn purchase. Shut off my phone and ran a virus scan, i reported it to a moderator, i hope they fix it, it makes me nervous that it might freeze up my phone!!

For the record, Mike, none such here at all. Desktop on Comcast, Win 7, Firefox with AdBlock Plus, Avast, and Malwarebytes.

Since not everyone sees it, it seems unlikely to be a BFT infestation.

Same here, no issues. Firefox with adblocker is the only way to go. We run the eset smart security on our computer and have had no problems at all with the site. In addition, just for information purposes, my tablet and phone are of the apple variety and have had no issues if that helps those working on it solve the cause/target etc.

I experienced that yesterday, too, on this site and this site only. It was while I was reading the thread about a big cutthroat from Strawberry. I'm using IE.

Guys this helps a lot, and explains why we have not been able to locate any viruses or malware. It sounds like the pop up is an ad that claims you might have a virus. Please send me any information or url's you are directed to, it will help us ban those advertisers as we prohibit those types of ads but somehow it looks like they are coming through our partnership with google.

Is anyone on the mobile phones have the trouble with the mobile site (bigfishtackle.mobi) or just the .com site?

This little gem popped up while I was replying to a post:

iSafeTray.exe
Banyan.iSafe

So far, I have been unable to get rid of it.

I had 27 entries of iSafeTray.exe and it took several runs of SpyBots to (hopefully) delete all of them.[frown]
