Mt Watson Loop

These last few weeks have been full of mother nature's lighting show. Climbing Mt Watson has been put on weather delay for 3 weeks, so with the cold front passage complete it was time to take on the mountain.

Left the trailhead at 8am heading for the north ridge. About 1 mile in I realized that I was on the wrong trail. Reworked the trail back to the correct turn off. Before I knew it I was on the shores of Cliff Lake with a great view of the peak I wanted to climb.



No less than 15 minutes later I was at Watson Lake and Mt Watson appeared to be getting closer. Threw a few casts and had a fish on but lost it.



The ridge was a sea of rocks all the way to the summit......and it was a piece of cake I tell ya.

At 11,521 feet, there was perhaps the best seat in Uinta Range.

Eventually the fact that I had not caught a fish set in, so I climbed down to Clyde Lake.

Fall was in the air.......



....and the Tigers were everywhere!

Ended the day at the Trial Lake.


And happily hiked the mile back to my trailhead amongst the beautiful colors in the sky.



Got in the car just as the moon was coming up.



Brookies, Tigers, Lakes, Peaks, Creeks, and over 11 miles traveled. What a great day to play in the Uintas.

Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing. I love the Uintas especially in the fall months.

Have the Aspen trees started to change yet. I need to take a drive with the Mrs and do a little fishing along the way.

A few trees along the road have changed into their yellow and red coats. Just did not get any pics since the lighting was poor. In the basins, especially the higher ridge lines, the colors were in full swing. Enjoy it if you do go, and watch out for those pesky, always on the highway cows!

They are pretty pictures. But when the mountains themselves appear blue and the color blind folks notice you might have got carried a way a tad bit.[laugh]

Atmospheric conditions do tend to change the "blue colors" of long distance shots. Smoke, dust, angle of light, these are all factors that result in what you see.

Do you ever read magizines? Take a guess on whether or not those were touched up. It is the professional photographers way of life now. If you wanna be magazine worthy you have to get with the program.

Too bad all my pics are "cell phone shot" material compared to ETDT!

Regardless, one of his pictures was saved as wallpaper on my tablet which is an even higher honour than it would normally seem because it took the place of Kerri Walsh Jennings, three times Olympic Gold Metalist, who was my wallpaper for a month.

I do it too sometimes but try not to make it so obvious as a few of those. Great pics. A few would be better if they were subtle enough that the viewer didn't immediately realize what the photographer did for the look is all. I actually like some trout pictures were it's obvious but with landscape it doesn't come off as well.

Actually you're sooooooo wrong!!!! White fish love wax worms. When I go primarily for whites I tip whatever nymph I'm using with a wax, The last several times I haven't used em. ????

I know what you mean about the super-blue skies at elevation. Don't Digital cameras have a "mode"? I recall back in my film days - that Fuji took on much more blue than Kodak file. Was a fan of slides.

No matter the "technology" it's the "eye" that chooses what to capture. You frame well!

Plus all that danged hiking! Lotta lakes tucked together - do they all have fish?

I think I'm hitting elevation for fall colors, and slimy wet adventures next week, if my plans work out!
