The best shore areas will be the rocky shore north of the dam, or in seeley cove (directly across the lake from the dam. As for camping , the only real camping at the lake is in the campground. which is nice, however joes valley is a lower elevation lake and the weather can be warm. If you head up the dirt road (instead of turning into the campground) About 6-8 miles up follow the signs to grassy lake, there is some great camping spots in that area, and it will be much cooler. There are several lakes in the area, grassy, petes hole , soup bowl. Or if you want some untamed wild cut throat fishing you can hike into the canyon and fish seeley creek. Some serious hiking, but worth the hike.
