Hey there Bobbybigfish,

Welcome again!

We sure would appreciate your input, reports, and comments on our local southern califonia freshwater scene. I see you are now what we all started out as (little nightcrawlers), but you'd be amazed how fast you'll turn on to receiving and sharing fishing info and subsequently climb up through the different fish species.

Although I haven't hit SARL recently, I'm sure interested in Corona Lake, Irvine Lake, and Laguna Niguel Lake when the waters cool and the trout start to bite. Heck, there'll be plenty of action at the local park lakes too when the trout plants start.

Later,

What a great day at Irvine lake. I had the Honor to spend the day with JED WHELSH, not only a 94 year old man but a heck of a good fisherman. Your thursday update man from the press telegram. My friend george Vanzant was along and I could not of had a better day with not only a famos fisherman but a great friend George. Even know Jed may need a little help tieing his hooks this man has the touch of a young fisherman. Not one fish got broken off on his rods today even with 2lb test. Today was press day at Irvine lake and these guys are not messing around when it comes to limits of trout. The trout were showing there faces all around the lake. The three of us must of caught and released 40 trout today and are going to injoy 12 or so in the frying pan. Not only a great lunch break at the Irvine cafe but we also got to see a truck full of very large brook trout being released into the lake. They did not want to bite being so new to the lake but lots of spunky rainbows in the same area were willing and ready. What a story, JED told me how he watched ZANE GREY fight a swordfish for nine hours outside of AVALON and loose it. OUCH! TELL ME MORE! what a great day!

Hi there bobbybigfish,

Fantastic experience and report! Somewhat like Wayne's World, it's on my knees repeating 'We're not worthy, we're not worthy' for me! ha ha Thank you.

It must have been fun. I guess the water temprature was cooled enough for our finny friends for them not all to rush down to the dam area and deeper water to cool their little caudal fins.

Thanks for the secret tips. I understand that those skinny, paper thin, little crippled minnow spoons in either rainbow or frog pattern FROGS? FROGS? yes... frog pattern worked will last year.
