So, reading the forums daily since I signed up, I've noticed that a lot of you guys mention Maniac Custom Lures. Forgive my ignorance but I have not heard about them until just recently. Everyone that has mentioned them seems to love them and do really well using them. Just wondering if anyone would be willing to share which lures work for them and which ones you would recommend for a newbie?

For ice fishing you need to try the Maniac Gizzy Bug. They are small ¾” bait that work very well on trout and pan fish. I suggest that you couple them with the Gizzy Bug lead head also made by Maniac, (the gizzy bug are very small and it’s hard to find a jig head that fits any better).
New this year is the Maniac Gazzilla. They are kinda like the Gizzy Bugs big brother.
My favorite colors are Changeable Craw, and all of the glow colors. All I have been using this winter are the new gazzilla’s and they are working awesome. I have even used them on the small community ponds with good success.

I second everything maddog said about maniacs. The gizzy bugs in glow orange and glow pink, and crazy glow which is like a light green are my favorite. I use them on the orange and red jig head . I tie them below a castmaster or a painted lead weight to get them down faster. Like 45 feet when I am after the Perch. You can fish them without the castmaster and put them down 10-20 feet for the trout. Hope this helps.

In the Ogden area, try Anglers Den or Smith and Edwards.
I use Maniac's 1 1/2" Cut'r Bugs all year.
They are great for Trout, Bass and even Wiper.
The smaller Gizzy Bugs are great for ice fishing.
Be sure to use a very small jig head with them.
I use 1/64oz..
If you use any bait with the Gizzy, be sure to use a very small amount.

The new Gizzila bugs worked great at Scofield today. The white, glow ones with a red head on them were great. I'll be getting some more.

My wife bought me a crap load of Maniac Lures for Christmas, now I just have to learn how to fish them. Here's praying they work MUCH better than the over-hyped Banjo Minnow Lures.[fishon]

I've caught more bass and trout on Maniac's than any other plastic -- and it's not even close. The big 2.5 and 3" changeable craw are my favorite, and have produced year round on the Jordan River, strawberry, flaming gorge, and Lake Powell.
