Aberdeen to Host National Qualifying Ice Fishing Tournament

[font "Times New Roman"]For the second consecutive year Aberdeen will host a National Qualifying Tournament on Lake Richmond, February 18-20, 2011. Accompanying the NAIFC to Lake Richmond again this year will be the ICE MEN Reality TV program, which will be filming and producing the “Richmond Rumble,” which will be aired on the VERSUS-channel. In addition, the NAIFC and the Aberdeen Convention & Visitors Bureau will provide a “Free” Kids Ice Camp. This will give kids and their parents a chance to see first hand the excellent opportunity that ice fishing presents for kids to learn what the outdoors has to offer.[/font]

Time to gear up for the second consecutive “Richmond Rumble”! The national qualifying ice fishing event is only one week away and the weather conditions are looking very promising. The seven day forecast shows mid to upper 30’s! Hope to see everyone there….should be an exciting weekend!

[font "Calibri"]Looks like it’s going to be in the 40’s all week and then cool down into the 20’s for the weekend. Sounds like perfect ice fishing weather to me. Teams are still registering and the hype it Aberdeen, SD is building up! I can’t wait to see everyone in a couple of days to take on the ICE MEN. [/font]

[font "Times New Roman"]I made my way out to Richmond Lake yesterday and is doesn’t look all that bad. Some snow has melted and there are a few stretches of slush here and there. I did see some quads making there way around the lake without any problem though. Hopefully the temperature drop of 10 – 15 degrees throughout Friday and Saturday will help harden the surface up a little more so mobility is even easier to get around. See everyone in a couple of days.[/font]

we got worm and rain in our forcast, today if it was raining it must have been hiding behind all that blinding sunshine.

I was out yesterday, I got a gill, and a 12 inch crappie. and I battled a pike that was about 28 inches for an hour and a half on 2lb test line...

he grabed my little gill jig and went streight to the weed bed where he rolled over and over and over till he was all tied up. I took my time cuz I know how them weeds are, if you fight them they will only snap your line, but if you keep constant preasure on them, they will eventualy cut or pull up.

once he was free, I inched him up to my hole.

I got him up to the bottom of the hole, that is how I know how big he was. I saw him from head to tail. once he was worn out I attempted to fignagle him up in to the hole where I could get him but no dice.

My gaft was sitting next to my tipup some 25 feet away so I loosend up my drag and drifted back to my gaft and reeled my way back to my hole, when I got back I found that he was rolling again, but this time he was going the the other way letting my line loose.

I lowered my gaft in to the water and he got one look at that and pooff he was gone as fast as greese lightning, and twang when my 2 lb test line and my third jig of the day.

after wich of corse I did my dagburned it dance... lol

went back out today, not much of any thing, couple small gills
