Record tiger musky
#1
My buddy shot this bad boy over the weekend. We aint to into spear fishing but its growing on us. Specially on a lake where they were illegally introduced. When it was first caugh it was a hair under 23 then on official scales in Loa 2 hours later it was 21+. By the time an officer got there it was 19 and some change. I think this is the new state record. I hate admit it but he caught some lake trout to a 25# a 22# and a couple around 15. A pretty lucky fella I guess[Wink][Wink]

It could be a spearfishing record. but it isn't the tackle record. the tackle record is 33lbs. out of pineview. My buddy has a 27 pound on his wall. But your fish is a very nice fish congrats on it.

Very nice Tiger Muskie. I've always wondered what spearfishing would be like. I imagine it is a great adventure. Thanks for the pic!

You guys better watch out, it could be dangerous where you fish.[angelic]
Apparently this dude is seriously pissed off at the DWR.[mad]

Nice tiger, but they were not "Illegally introduced" into Fish Lake. They were legally planted in Johnson's Reservoir and some of them have found their way up the stream connecting the two bodies of water.

First of all, my reply here is NOT to muleloco. Rather to the concept of spear fishing big fish.

I don’t usually chime in negatively on posts but this one pisses me off. First of all, to me, spear fishing big fish just makes me sick. Yea, I’m a wimp where as others may find much sport in it … but I don’t. I just had to get that off my chest. Yea, I guess it’s easy to justify, just as it is for me to justify catching fish in the mouth with a hook. But it still pisses me off. Once these big beautiful monsters are speared, they have a big hole in them and they are dead or they soon will be.

And, as for that [#0000bf]competing website link deleted[/#0000bf] that tries to convince readers that there is a “HUGE Danger at Pineview Reservoir”, geese, give – me – a – BREAK! There is more danger in our drinking water than in the waters of Pineview!

It stinks, and he "caught" some nice lake trout that were likely 20+ years old too. Great. Just great.[mad]

You need to get your story straight...And know your facts about what was or has been planted, and take your spear and and put it (xxxx) well get the hint..

That was one beautiful fish.. To bad It got killed I am not much of fan of killing big fish no matter the species except for carp but I want to call bs on this sport because I think its bullshiv that someone can shoot game fish with a rubber band gun and I can not use my bow on anything but carp....

What does caught and luck have to do with spearfishing. It might be legal in Fish Lake for now but with posts like this will only piss off the general fishing population.

Wow you guys are brutal. Ya they were not illegally planted horrible choice of words but I dont think they swam from Johnson they were dumped in there by accident in my opinion.
Ya it is just the spear fishing record. I have never actually done it myself but it sounds like fun and I might try it one day but I doubt it. So my story was kinda bullshi I was just posting a pict of one of my good buddys fish. I thought it was kinda cool he could have the record spear fish but ya its kinda lame to see a big hole in the poor thing to.

So ya thanks for all the kind words anyway. SWAM up from Johnson give me a break you guys will buy anything.
Oh and by the way he said they taste great. I have never tried them myself, or even caught one or speared one or even tried to do either actually. So peace out guys.

Funny how you have to be so careful on this site on what you say and how you say it. People are quick to jump on you.

I'm a little scared of catching a fish like that with normal tackle in a boat and wondering how I get my lure back out of that toothy jaw. I am not going to be the first one to go under water after one of those beasts.

Nice fish[Smile] but hey if its legal what can you do? If he cooks it up and dosent waste it why whine? Seems like alot of the old geezers have problems and whine about spearing keep in mind its public waters and legal why get your panties in a bunch theres nothing you can do. I dont get pissed off when people keep bass even though I wish they hadnt nuff said

Hey I say good on your friend. People need to get off their high horse and admit that spearfishing is a legal venue for enjoying the outdoors.

Right now it seems to me that there are not enough spearfishermen to hurt too much in the eco-system. Nice picture, and way to go I say.

Although I would agree that if he got 4 other really big fish that day . . . well that might be taking too many. It reminds me of a friend who shot 30 wood chucks one day, on the way into a stretch of river we fish that is a bit harder to get in to. Usually I would pop a couple of shots at one on the way in and laugh if I got it. Shooting one or two a trip didn't seem to hurt the population any, as we would only make it in there about two times a year. Well 12 years after his bloody killing spree, which I was not present for because I would haves stopped him, we still don't see hardly any wood chucks anymore. Sometimes too much damage can be done, and well then that's the end.

I have nothing against spearfishing, but with any kind of fishing/hunting showing restraint at times is greatly needed.

Wow what a fish, I spear fish mostly in mexico and that definitely would rival any fish that I could shoot down there. I don't know why people get so worked up about someone else's passion and or hobby, especially if it's within the Legal limits. I love fishing but to dive in the water and stalk your prey, wow what a rush and what fun!

Thanks for your positive comments on the fish. He only shot the one tiger musky. All the lakers where caught and released. I got a pretty good pict of the 25# mac but a 82 year old man is holding it. I will not post it just to hear the rath of you guys because he aint holding it right.
Thanks again for any positive comments.

I would like to know how many of you know it alls think you could catch a fish over 15 pounds in FL in one day? Let alone 4. I bet none of ya am I right?

I mean catch one with a rod and real not shoot one
