We have discussed the Banjo Minnows before on the Utah boards. I clicked on the "Search" button above and searched for the phrase, "Banjo Minnows" on the Utah boards and found the following threads:

I have used them on Mantua bass effectivly. There are a couple of draw backs
You have to let the fish run with the bait to get a good hookset. I have missed a ton of fish heaving on a bite.
They are finicy to rig. Rubberbands, little screw things and they dont give you many or either.
A ZOOM fluke works better, is cheaper and offeres more ways to fish

I've had some awesome success with the original banjo's.
I threw away all the funky rigging stuff. A good wide gap hook through the eye is all you need and they work just fine.
And since fish eat fish head first, they usually hook themselves.

Put them on a heavy jighead for Mac's at the Gorge or Bear Lake. Banjo's are just a swimbait. Rig them or fish them anyway you want.

Hey man,
You should ask. You wanted info that was happening now from the people on the forum. Anyone can do a search and look on the net, but you wanted to see what some recent sucess was. This forum has a ton of past stuff...most of it is 100% great, but I still ask some questions on products to see whats happenin' now with them.
Minnows, yup, they are great. I think they work about as good as some other things on the market, but the weedless style is a good one. I would however try to but them from another source such as ebay:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=banjo+minnow
Beacuse you can try them for a low price and get a good variety.....they tend to be pricy from the retail stores. I think they work best when fish are really agressive, but I dont think they work well (just my $.02) when fish are not at peak.
Good luck n keep postin,
Shawn

[#0000ff]As I said in the PM I sent to you, I am sorry that my reply came through as a slam. I intended to give you the information that you requested and in no way did I intend to chide you for asking your question. If I had thought otherwise I would have written something like, "Do a search on here and you will find the answer to your question." Please keep posting and asking questions.[/#0000ff]

I have no experience with the Banjo, but I must applaud your quoting Pat McManus.

Just wanted to throw out there that I had banjo minnows for awhile (until I lost them all) and I never had better luck with one lure for every type of fish.
