Salmon Falls Creek Res is the only place I can think of with half decent walley in Idaho, but that's a little more than 1 hour from you

i am yet to get out on the damn this year. i think the reason they are small is because of the amount they planted last year. They planted 500,000 fingerlings up there and thats the 12-15 inchers your catching. They planted 175k in 07 and they didnt plant it in 06. So i thinks its kind of like fishing a trout pond thats been planted that week your going to catch more small onces than anything else, just because there are more of them.

About 2 weeks ago we caught a few in about the 3-5 pound range. We were on Oneida and fishing in about 15-18 foot of water. We were more up the lake away from the dam. Caught them on 3 and 4 inch dark green and black curly tail grubs tipped with worm. Seemed the further we got down the lake towards the dam, the smaller the fish got.

I always thought that fingerlings were pretty small like three to four inches is that correct. If so I highly doubt that in one year the fish are 12-15 inches, especially in oneida. Most of the fish I have caught there are pretty pathetic looking, they seem to be stunted. They look nothing like the fish you catch below the dam. They most either be overpopulated or the food source is poor. Occasionally you can catch a healthy fish out of Oneida, but not very often.[mad]

i could be wrong but i think that they are in the 12 inch range by there 3rd year which would be the year after they are planted. I know they grow fairly fast. I agree though they do have a over sized head on a snakey body up there. while the onces below are much thicker.

I found this "Walleye fry will live to be 3 years old. Young Walleyes grow at a remarkable rate, by late Spring the fry will grow to be 1.5 to 2 inches and by the end of the Summer they will have grown to be 4 to 6 inches long. 1+ year old fish were 11.8 inches. 2+ year old fish were 17.9 inches, a 3+ year old fish was 20.1 inches and five 4+ year old fish were from 18.9 to 21.8 inchesWalleyes tend to grow at a remarkable rate for thier first four years of age and then their growth rate is at a much slower rate and because the females tend to grow much faster then the males, there could be 3 to 4 inches difference between a 4 year-old male and female walleye of the same year class. the walleye fry become 2-inch fingerlings in 40 days." that came from. But i did read alot saying cold waters slow the growth rate while warm waters speed it.

The thing i couldnt believe was how fast they hatch it said 13 days.

We were up Oneida again today. The fish still seem to be doing what they were when we caught them last. 13-18 feet of water and on the grubs. We didnt hit them quit as big but still getting around the 3lb range about 20-23 inches. Once we got on them was pretty easy to keep with them and seemed they were hanging with pretty big perch as well.
