Steelhead report from sunday March 1st.
#1
so i finally found my dang USB cord and now here is my report we fished the ellis hole first thing in the morning getting there at 7:00 am but there was just to much slush ice to fish there we tried for about 20 minutes then we decided to head down to deer gulch and look at those hole we ended up fishing the hole about 300 yards above the bridge the slush ice was pretty much nonexcistant in this hole but there was already three people in it who hadnt caught anything i went down and talked to them and my buddy went down and fished. lol he is a crazy guy. on his fifth float through he hooked into and landed a nice hatchery buck then about 6 casts later he hooked into a nice wild buck and that was all i could take i went and grabbed my rod. my buddy was using black helgies with a silver corkie bottom bouncing i was using pink worm jig and bobber and on my first cast into the hole i hooked up into a little hen that was about 5 lbs i got her right up to the net and she spit the hook just before my buddy dipped it under her. it was an amazing day with great temps and blue sky. we never touched another fish all day but we had a good time we always do so here are the pics of verns fish.

Looks like I missed the fish by 300 yds[frown]. I fished right below the bridge at deer gulch sunday morning. One fish was picked up early, and I hooked and lost one around 10:00. If I would have known you were there I would have come and met you, and if you were catching I might have hung out awhile[Wink]. I'm heading down river next Wednesday thru Sunday, I'll be in a black chevy w/ a white shell. Or a green boat. Stop by if you're down there, we'll have a brewski.

I'm heading down on the 11th, but my uncle is going Sunday so I should have a report of the river everyday until I leave. I should be able to post weekly river and fishing reports from here on out. I camp at Spring Creek, by the way.

Ya, you can start at the Park Hole, then Lemhi and Terd pond hole, and there are several good holes all the way down. In my opinion though, if the river's not muddy just go down. Owl creek, or Clam Hole are both excellent holes to start fishing at. I don't know how familiar you are with the river, but the canyon is also great fishing in the spring. PM me for specifics if you want.

My son and I ran to Salmon Friday night and fished the [#ee3030]Lemhi[/#ee3030] hole for 8 hours. It was very slow and was quite cold. We headed home at 4:00 AM and the temperature was 17 degrees. It was a little tough fishing with ice in the guides. We only hooked 2 fish and didn't land any. I wish we could have stayed for the weekend but I had other commitments Saturday afternoon. I hope the rest of you guys have better luck than we had.
