Colorado Springs. Anything close to me that would be a good place to fish? I'm not too picky about what I catch... I'm thinking about rampart reservoir....Is this a good place?

Rampart has been well for rainbow trout and smaller lake trout. The Catamount Lakes are also fishing well (up on Pikes Peak Road).

Sounds good to me. What is the best type of bait to use to catch the fish in rampart?

For lake trout, a 2" or 3" white tube jig with a small piece (postage stamp size) of sucker meat or a piece of nightcrawler. For rainbows, worms or salmon eggs, spoons, and spinners.

this time of year i take the following trip:

if i want bass/wiper i drive HGY 50 west to pueblo west, take the exit to the pueblo west marina. right befroe the ranger booth there is a right turn to the free boat ramp out towards turkey creek on pueblo res. i slay the wipers, smallies, and largies along the shore and in the trees in my float tube. i also get some nice crappie.

if im in a torut mood i head to 11 mile. i park at the first fence crossing and walk to yhr buoy line. i cast one rod with power bait straight out on the point, youll know what im talking about if you see it, remmeber be right next to the buoy line, and a spinner on the other rod, i fish deep and slow. i catch some damn nice rainbows and have even caght a few kok's back in the day fishing the deeper part of the channel.

It is identified by a reddish stripe running down the side of the fish, and by black spots. It was introduced in 1888 into the Gunnison River. They are native to the U.S., but not to Colorado. They spawn in the Spring.and all the best for a great fishing time also try to break the record
