Besides the Owyhee river, are there any bodies of water in SE Oregon (preferably lakes) that are good fishing? I live in the Nampa/Caldwell area and would like to travel over to fish, if possible, just because SE Oregon is so desolate--I would like that. I know I passed a few small lakes south of Wagon Wheel when driving through one time, but they looked like there was a high alkali content, and I wasn't sure if they held fishies or not.

Hello,
This is a tool that was linked from Oregon Fish & Wildlife that may be useful:

They also have a SE weekly report here:

I think those are probably the best resources for that area.

Thanks a load for the links. Excellent information. I can simply check the map for the lakes and rivers in the report--very handy. I appreciate it.

Thanks--checked them out but not much detail on Malheur lake. That is the closest to my location across the border in Idaho.

You might want to ask at ifish.net as well. (http://www.ifish.net)
They have a lot of people that may have other ideas.

in Lake County, you’d be right to think that fishing holes are plentiful here. Known for excellent trout fishing in the mountainous areas, the region is also gaining a reputation for bass, crappie, catfish, and other warm-water fishing.
Crump, Flagstaff, Anderson, and Campbell Lakes in eastern Lake County provide the hottest action for crappie.
Friday Reservoir, located between Adel and Plush, is stocked with Lahontan cutthroat trout, and Rock Creek, which flows out of the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, has red-banded trout. Off U.S. 395 in western Lake County, Goose Lake, half in California, half in Oregon, is also home to the native red-banded trout, but it’s hard to fish for this unique subspecies in the shallow water.
Drews Reservoir, 25 miles west of Lakeview on ORE 140, offers excellent fishing for channel catfish—some as large as 10 pounds. In the northern section of the county, Thompson Valley Reservoir, reached by driving south from Silver Lake on County Road 4–12, has yielded large rainbows.
The Chewaucan River, which flows into Abert Lake, is heavily stocked with trout.
