long island sound,southside fishers island

today we got our sea legs back in shape.it felt good getting out.boat ran great,and the only problem was fog,really dense fog.as we made our way out i set my new crab pots near the state peir.as you can see we had a boatload 2 crab pots,3 lobster pots and 3 of us with our gear

we placed the lobster pots at ocean beach,and then decieded to stay there for awhile to let the fog burn off.i was the first to land a skate,then another one,and finaly a fluke 16 inches capt.don managed a short also at 15 inches joe hade nothing.by this time the fog had burned off alot,so we headed out to fishers island.about half was to race rock the fog was back,good thing for gps,and radar,we had a large blip in the radar screen,as we neared it was an oil tanker just sitting,by the time it can into view we were about 100 feet from it.we made the slow journey there and dipped our lines,joe got the first fluke short,then me anouther short,after 3 hours don landed a sea robin

then joe landed the only keeper.the last fish was mine,and also the biggest a 32 inch spiny dog fish,it put up a great fight[inline May27275.JPG]

even though we only had one keeper it was great being out.o yea the crab pots did work great,just it was filled with spider crabs,but i will keep trying

Looks like a good day out and you caught something to show for it. Too bad the crabs aren't here yet, but the traps work. Great job on the pictures. Maybe some day I'll figure how to down size.[crazy] Went to ceder lake, I'll post later.

other than the fog it was a great day,felt good to be out on the big pond.next week will be rhode island by the pink house.going to put the crab pots out alittle farther see if we can find then
