Still some good color on those fish and any day you can catch that many fish while ice fishing that is awesome.

Me and Shawn hit Staley Springs today. Obifishcenoby is the best ice fisherman I have ever seen. I've seen him catch nearly 80 fish in two days. I did well with 9 today and the biggest at 4 pounds.

Four pounds was our biggest and a few 3 pounds. Most 2 1/2 pounds. I haven't got one over 5 in 2 years. My best three years ago was 7 pounds. Shawn did get two little ones.

You two did good Randy, what was the hot colored jig and were you tipping it with anything?

The hot ticket for me is a Maniac 1/16th swim head with a white with red flake Gitzilla tipped with a headless meal worm and Mikes trout glow scent

What are you going to do when you run out of those Maniac white with red flake Gitzilla and why do you think they work so well for you?

I’m buying up all of the ones i like that I come across, the Jig heads are what I’m really worried about they have a very good hook with a wide hook gap and sit perfect in the water. I recently emailed the guy who owns maniac and he said he would consider making some more. I have managed to get enough body’s for several more seasons and I’m doing my best not to lose the heads I’ve lost 2 so far this year. I saw another bait company advertising there custom baits on a Facebook page that where very similar.

Those jig heads are just a bullnose head, very easy to replicate, if a person had a little extra time and money.

I bet you are right Lyle, I'd think someone like tubeDude or another member would be willing to pour up a batch or four, for the right price, if they had the mold.

I'd pour a bunch if I had the mold. I've never really thought about selling anything, I give a lot of what I make away.

You have inspired me to watch You Tube videos on pouring jigs and trying to find a 1/16oz. bullet head mold that replicates the ones I have been getting from Maniac. I am not seeing many molds smaller than an 1/8th and I want the eye of the hook to be 90 degrees to the shank, whatever brand of hook Maniac is using are very sharp and have a wide gap I really like. Where do you get your supplies?

From various places, Janns netcraft, barlows tackle, lure parts online, probably a few more that I can't think of at the moment, I shop around a bit for the cheapest deal I can find. A lee melting pot makes pouring easy and never have to worry about losing a jig again, protec powder paints are a easy way to color jigs. Plastics are easy to mood also just need to find the mold you want. It's a bit of initial expense, but worth it in the long run and a great feeling when you can catch fish on something you've made.

In Idaho you have to stop fishing when you retain your daily limit, it’s a gamble you don’t want to stop fishing while they  are biting, then it dies like it did after 10am today making it a challenge to fill your limit, the last 2 I caught today where hardest to get. Randy and I released a number of good fish today.
