A second open house on the Big Game Season Structure has been added on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for Denver, scheduled for from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Bighorn Room at the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) headquarters building, 6060 North Broadway, in northwest Denver.
The Colorado Wildlife Commission is reviewing proposed updates to Colorado's big game hunting and management policies, and the public is invited to provide input during an upcoming series of forums and open-house meetings around the state.
A second open house has been added on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for the Denver metropolitan area, scheduled from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Bighorn Room at the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) headquarters building, 6060 North Broadway, in northwest Denver. (After 5 p.m., please enter on the south side at the door marked “C.”) This open house is in addition to the presentation held at the International Sportsmens Exposition in January.
The Feb. 10th open house will be an additional opportunity to talk to DOW staff about all issues relevant to the Big Game season structure. The public can stop by at any time between 3 and 7:30 p.m.; there is no formal presentation scheduled.
Public comments could help shape the 2005-2009 big game season structure, which will determine when, where, and how hunters can harvest big game wildlife in Colorado each year.
Other public forums and open houses are planned around the state through Feb. 19. Dates and locations of the public forums can be found at on the DOW’s Web site (http://www.wildlife.state.co.us/) along with information about draft policy alternatives and the decision-making process.
At the forums, the DOW will inform the public of the different policy alternatives being considered. Discussions about setting season dates and timing, along with implementation strategies will not begin until June. Nevertheless, the DOW strongly encourages hunters to weigh in now so that their preferences can be taken into consideration.
