So I may be buying a bayliner with any outboard motor. It does not have a flat transom for a trolling motor mount and I don't see a great space on the open bow for a bow mount. Anyone experience this and have suggestions? I'm primarily getting it for fishing but I'm sure the kids will want me to drag them around a bit too.
I do have a couple of gas trolling motors but would consider trading one for a bow mount electric if that would work better. Thanks!

Is there a swim platform on the back? You can mount a remote troll on a swim platform. There should be a way to put either a bow mount or a transom mount. All depends on how you want to use the motor. Are you looking to just troll around the lake or do you want the capability to also creep along the shoreline?

It is an outboard, so not really a traditional swim deck. I don't have a photo of that part of the boat I'm looking at getting, but found this one online that has photos:

I think you could probably make the Remote Troll mount work there, but those things are up around $1000 now.
It would mostly be used for trolling as I've primarily fished trout, but would love to learn other species.

If the attached pic is what it looks like in back, it might be tough to get a remote troll to mount to it, without building some sort of adapter bracket but it could be done. As far as the price of a remote troll, you can find them a lot cheaper used on KSL.

I have built custom mounts before, it really comes down to if you are willing to drill some holes in your boat.

I agree, sometimes folks are not willing to drill those holes to make it happen but in this case, I don't think the OP has any options, if he wants either an elect trolling motor or a kicker motor.

I wouldn't mind the holes as long as it is filled in with a decent trolling motor mount. I'm buying it for fishing primarily. Just would have no idea how to do it our what it would cost.

I live near Tooele. However, I backed out on the purchase. The condition was way overstated. The seats were very dry. No cracks but felt as if they would crack if you sat on them. It also hadnt been used for at least a couple years and he didn't want to start it unless you had the cash in your hand ready to hand over. Just felt like he might be hiding something.
