Steelhead Numbers 16-17
#24
I completely agree that most of the problems are happening well downstream. The over-fishing in the river estuaries, the dams, and water temperatures in both the stagnant lakes created by dams and also the warm water blob in the ocean make it really tough for these fish to be successful. There is a big combination of bad things working against the fish this year. The sockeye are in a lot of trouble as well.

I am hoping the A run fish that are not showing up in bunches are still out in the ocean and that the balance is restored again next season. It has happened before, but it is still alarming. I hope the A run fish are not dead somewhere out in the pacific. Time will tell.
