I also went to Hyrum today. I did not get there until about 2:30 and stayed untill about 5:30. I started about a block East of the spillway and in about 30 ft of water. I did not catch anything so I moved closer to the spillway into a hole someone else had drilled. I fished there awhile and had one bite but missed it. Then I moved closer to the shore into about 20 ft of water. I did not catch anything there so I drilled another hole in closer to the shore in about 10 ft of water. While I was adjusting my strike indicator I had a hit and missed it. I rebaited and had a couple of more bumbs then I had a good hit a got about a 14" rainbow. I stayed about 10 more min. and headed out.
The action was less than fast. I think part of it for me was finding the fish. I do not have a fish finder so I have to do it by the gut fill method. I talked to the guys at Custom Sports in Hyde Park on friday and they told me that one of there customers had been out there and used perch minnows from a rainbow the had caught and could not get them to the bottom before they had a fish on. They were fishing in about 9 ft of water.
So you may want to try in a little closer to shore. I was using a wax worm on a white scud and a white crappie jig tipped with a meal worm. I am sure that all of my hits were on the wax worm.
I saw a couple of other fish caught. One guy had caught a bow on a blue looking ice fly.
