Flounder: Trolling Plate one of the best investments I've made for my 14' Lund with 15 HP 4 stroke. A recommendation for you if you get one, they come with just 2 settings. Full up (which actually acts like a hydrofoil and helps you plane up and stabilize a bit faster) or full down, which can drop your speed to as low as .5 mph depending on how much throttle you give it. But sometimes conditions may call for trolling a bit faster, but without having to throttle up a bunch with the plate full down. Look at the rig when you get it before you mount it to the motor. Cut a notch in what would be about the 45 degree mark, and add a cable to the bottom end of the plate to help you pull the plate into that mid point. With a bit of practice, I got where I can pull the plate release latch and the lift assist cord and drop it in the mid position all at once.
