I put my control speed at 4 or 5, if I go up to 8 or ten it eats up the battery. (but that changes with wind) I have a 19 1/2 ft boat. 40 gal gas tank and mabe 500 pounds of fishing stuff. (it seems like it when I load it)
so boatfisher, my 2 cents is keep your 12V and buy a kicker motor.
