I should have said mine are active rod holders. I do have a couple holders I hounted to my battery box for an extra rod but my holders are for rods that are being trolled or actively fished.
This one is on a creek co but same idea. The rod locks in and can't come out. I like these for trolling for walleye and for catfishing. In either instance the rod that is not locked in can come out with a bottom hook up or a big cat.
I now have made another one that has the union end on it but the top is just a U shape that I made out of fittings. I use that for my sturgeon rods. When I have the sturgeon rods I lay them on the tube and the rod tip goes over the PVC rod holder. I release the bail and turn on the clicker. A sturgeon can't pull them off due to the clicker. I like the ability to just replace the top if I want to troll or sturgeon fish.
