First, do NOT hold the line guides when you pull. Hold the rod blank only.
Put one drop of dish soap on the joint and set the rod tip section up in the corner overnight.
In the morning, put the rod behind you in the crook of your knees and grab the blank on either side with your hands against your legs. Twist slightly and pull, also forcing your knees outward. (This forces you to pull in a straight line and adds a bit of strength.)
That ought to do it.
Now, clean all the soap out of the joint and rub the male end of the joint with a candle to prevent future sticking.
