The grade school I went to was right on the edge of town. I remember several of us kids taking our 22's to school. We had to have the bolt out of it and the clip empty when we brought it. We'd take them straight to the office and the principal would put them "securely" in the corner and the bolts & bullets in his desk. One kid had a pump 22 and he had to have the action open. When school was out, the principal would let us get our guns and go rabbit hunting. He'd always caution us not to shoot until we got past the golf course and to never shoot back toward town. Don't expect that would happen today. Maybe in a one room country school like my daughter taught in at Stoneville SD. The nearest neighbor there was about two miles away though.
