One other thing: If you are considering the Mercury small hp 4-stroke motors, then be aware that they are identical to the Nissan and the Tohatsu outboards in those lower horsepower motors (abt 3hp to 8hp). They are all made by the Tohatsu company and only the stickers are different. They are all excellent motors, just don't end up paying extra for a name.

I have a 3.5 Tohatsu that I run on a pontoon boat. Mine I purchased online. No sales tax and free shipping, but no local merchant either, if there was a problem.
