Urban Pond Trout Stock 2011
#2
With this unseasonal warm weather, the water temp isn't ready for trout stocking. According to NDOW, trout stocking will probably not start until late November with no set date.
BTW: Last year was a bust, All I was catching were 5-7" fingerlings. I remember when they use to stock with atleast 12" trout and later in the year they would stock with their old breeding females up to 14-15" long.

But the state is now too poor to support a hatchery practice of letting the trout grow to 10-12". It costs too much money to feed them to grow that length.

Add to that the Lake Mead hatchery is permanately closed and the state has to buy stock trout from Utah or other states. There is talk of reopening Lake Mead hatchery but they would have to import outside water because of the mussel infestation in the lake. That gets expensive.
