Bandwagon Jumper - Mohave 10/22/11
#1
So I read the post about the great fishing trip that guy with his little girl had down at lake Mohave so I decided to make a trip down there. It was first time launching out of cottonwood cove, nice marina. Broke out at first light, say tons of shad just outside the marina. Dropped a vertical jig, hit two 2lbers. real quick but i wanted some of those 5 to 10 ten pounders. So i shot over to Arizona side and started trolling. Got a 3lber about 30 minutes later. By the time the sun peaked its head up I made my way to the where the river opens up to the lake. I busted out the binoculars and what do i see? A huge boil about a mile away. Pull up the trolling lines and shoot over. From about 7:30am to 11:30am it was random boils all morning. Fish were from 5 lb to about 8 lb. Anywhere from 15ft of water, ( I saw them swimming below the boat) to 50 ft of water. There were pauses in the boil action so i dropped vertical jigs and hit about 12 fish on that. Overall about 35+ fish that day the smallest about 3lb, largest about 10 lbs. kept 9 of them, wife was a bit upset about the 20 lbs of meat that came home [sly]. Released the rest. I will be back next week. Wind picked up around 11:00am and had to head back in. Have to say my greatest day of fishing that I can remember.
