That story about the big bass on a light rod is one that happens a lot. I don't recall the exact numbers, but I remember the Kansas state flathead catfish record was set a couple of years ago with a Zebco 303...and 15 pound line, by a guy fishing a minnow for crappies. The monster cat weighed about 128 pounds, if I remember correctly.
Getting any early fall walleyes up there yet? I remember it was usually about the middle of September when I could catch a few around the island at Deer Creek, right next to the bank at daybreak. And, a hot color was purple. But, with current conditions, who knows what they will do?
