Now why do you wanna put words into my mouth? I've never said "Do nothing about Yuba". It would be more accurate to say I advocate doing something every time you are there. Do exactly what the biologists have recommended since the repairs were made to the dam. Harvest the walleyes and the Northern Pike to help keep their numbers in check. You can't control the water level. You can't control the amount of structure in Yuba. You can't control the carp. You can't add more perch. There's all kinds of things that you can't accomplish at Yuba. But you can help the perch survive, and in turn help the other game fish by reducing the number of predators.
If you planted 10,000 perch from Jordanelle, or Fish Lake, the Northern Pike would eat them in a matter of a few days. If there are 1,000 Northerns, say over 35 inches, that's 3 a day for 3 days and the perch would be gone. It's almost impossible to build a pyramid from the top. As for nets, the UDWR only has gill nets. They are designed to kill fish, not scoop them up so they can be moved.
Don't just sit in your boat and do "nuthin'". Take a limit of walleyes and a limit of Northern Pike from Yuba any time you get the chance. They will spawn, and IF there are enough perch to feed them, their offspring will grow and replace the ones you took home. If you let them go, they'll eat all of the perch and keep the bust going longer.
