It's not too cold in a lot of lakes in Utah for Gizzard Shad. The thing you don't seem to grasp bassrods, is that having another fish that cannot be stopped if it gets out of control only adds another problem. They would survive in Yuba. They would survive in Utah Lake. The problem in Utah Lake is that they would eliminate the June Sucker. And that is the crux of the issue. If they wound up in New Castle or Sand Hollow or Gunlock they would go nuts. That DOESN'T mean that it would be a good thing. Lighting a fire that you can't put out isn't a good thing either. They would take over and cost too much to try to control. Anybody familiar with the problems that Golden Shiners have created in say Kolob Reservoir, or New Castle? I say we let the biologists do their job and stop creating more problems that divert funding, manpower and resources from an already strapped management program.
By the way Cliff, how cold do you think the water is under the ice in Canada?
