Finder, flasher, or camera
#29
Different take on fuzzy's before this thread goes to the mortuary. I have currently 4 flashers in my arsenal (2 Marcums, 1 Vex, 1 Humminbird) and I've enjoyed every one of them on the ice, and in soft water. 1) Flashers not very good for deep water, bust for me. I've used the Marcum LX3 at Fish Lake, 80-100 ft of water and could see the jig, fish, and whether or not I have bait on my jig or not. Maybe the fuzz could show the folks at In-fisherman and other guides in the Great Lakes area how it's done and that they have doing it all wrong all these years. Wink 2) The colors don't bother me nor does it give me a headache after a day on the ice looking at them. I've looked at my buddy's LCD finder and have to squint a little bit because the fish and the jig is a bit too small for me. The colors on the flasher tell me instantly where the fish is in relation to my jig/lure. 3) The older Vexilars were a little noisy, but I don't mind the hum, even in a tent, out in the open, though, the noise is very minimal. 4) I've used my flashers on the boat and it's worked for me. Sometimes I even prefer it over the Garmin.

I do agree with Fuzz about getting a FF first and then going to a flasher when circumstances allow. The camera would be the last in my opinion.
