Finder, flasher, or camera
#25
I have all three and the previous posts describe the benefits of each; however, I have the found out the following:

Fishfinder: shows history of what has swam under neath you over the past few seconds & gives off an alarm if a fish swims by. Both are helpful if the fishing is slow. My fish finder has a vertical flasher on the side that gave me real time info.

Flasher: I think it gives a better indicator of your jig at depth, especially if you are using smaller jigs in deeper water. The biggest benefit is the ability to screen out the interference from other fish finders in the area. If you fish in congested areas or deep water, this feature is priceless. I have the Marcum LX-5. Never noticed any noise and the lights are no problem. I think your battery charge lasts longer with a flasher.

Camera: I love mine - Marcum 825sd. If I have the camera in the water, I do not watch the flasher very often. I have hooked many fish with the camera that I never felt a strike.

Whatever you decide, get as much as you can afford. I have never regretted trying to buy the best - my wife never missed the extra dollars.
