Long line trolling is trolling jigs behind the boat at low speeds between .8 - 1.2 mph. I use my electric bow mount trolling motor to power the boat and a GPS to monitor my speed.
The depth of the water and fish will determine jig size. I use a 1/32 in 5-6' of water in spring and 1/16 and 1/8 later in the year when fish go deeper. I use a 2" curly tail grub (I prefer Southern Pro Hot grubs). The curly tail grub has a great action at the above mentioned speeds and sends out good vibrations that mimic the tail action of a minnow.
