Before you spend all that money on the Vexilar and Marcum you may want to check out the Showdown. I have one and they work great. I was going to by the Vexilar until I tried out the Showdown. It is very accurate and simple to read. It will show an ice fly at 30 foot down and it is realtime.

I asked these same questions last year and thank goodness "Hooter Patrol" talked me into the Showdown.
