I have worked on motors for years, what I have found is, if you buy a good oil and mix it to what it is rated for, rather it is for 100 to 1 or 25 to one you will be fine. My favorite is penzoil for air cooled motors, it leaves less deposits and smokes very little. If it is a water cooled motor, I will use the chevron TCW-3.
One other thing that I should add is that if you have a oil injection system, make sure that you always buy at least the oil with the ratio that the oil pump injects it to. Most manufactures are at 50:1, some are at 100:1.
