2 Stroke fuel to oil ratios????

Welcome to the site LimitOut, I've got a question for you. What type of oil do you use in your boat motor? I don't do it often but I have used the same oil in my weed eater that I use in my boat motor, just a different ratio. I realize that oil injected engines might be different but do you really think that it makes that much difference in older motors? I remember reading a decal on an older trolling motor I had and it said to use 30 wt motor oil in the oil/fuel mixture. Just curious, I'm really not sure[:/].
