I've got an 84 merc 7.5hp that runs a 50:1 and doesn't smoke at all, never had a problem with it. Also I just got a 76 merc 9.8hp that runs the same mixture just fine. I've never tried to change the mixture, don't know why you would. What's your reason for wanting to change it?
