Like I said in the earlier post it wasnt just the weight of the motor it was the constant bouncing around. Your swim ladder was designed to hold a full grown man, but not while jumpin over wakes or trailering down the road. I wouldnt trust the original design to hold a motor, thats why I built one. Not harping, just been there done that. In fact the first time I ripped the screws out of the transom was coming across Willard in 3 to 4 footers. Call me paranoid, but I overbuilt the mount just to make sure that when i looked back, my 700 dollar kicker was still attached![cool] Ive also been on utah lake caught in a storm that was producing 5 to 6 foot waves and a couple of rougue waves that i swear went 8 foot. Even though I was lucky to make it back to the harbor safe( swamped, but safe[crazy]) , I had two rod holders ripped right off, windshield half knocked off, a bow mount barely hangin on, and that kicker was still rock solid. But the point is, you would be amazed the amount of stress put on that mount, intentional or unintentional. I wish they would mount these swim ladders in a way that you could buy a direct factory mount for your kicker that would be rated for the weight instead of garage engineering[:/].
