Dave, my first job out of graduate school was with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in Grayling. My boss was a friend of Fred Bear, and so he introduced me to him. But not being a bow hunter, I hadn't heard about Fred Bear and wasn't impressed. I just thought he was another of the many businessmen my boss was friends with.I've since learned better.
