Salmon at 6th Street
#7
Depends on which side of the river you want to fish.

East side

600 Monroe Ave NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49503-1473

There is a wall with guard rail that you can fish from. Be sure to bring a long net as it is a good 8 foot drop down before you reach the water. A lot of people fish from the wall and someone there will probably have a net... but ya never know.

Don't fish up close to the dam on this side. It looks deep but really isn't more than a couple feet. Go downstream a bit and stay about 30 yards north of the first bridge overpass that crosses. There is a nice deep hole there. If that isn't producing keep walking downstream (there is a nice concrete path and everything) and fish just north of the post office. Nice deep hole there. Again... bring a nice long net.

West Side

600 Front Ave NW
Grand Rapids, MI 49504
(Just keep driving south on Front Ave... it will dead end right into the fish ladder)

On this side you are right on the waters edge and don't have to worry about a net for landing a fish. There is a line drawn on the cement near the fish ladder. You have to stay on the south side of that line (unless you want a fine)

Fish anywhere between that line and the boat launch. After (south) of the boat launch is a waste of time as it is really shallow and rarely holds any fish.

If between the line and the boat launch is crowded go down stream 50 yards and fish between the big drain colvert thing and the first bridge overpass. I've seen several fish caught there over the years. (I'd highly recommend this spot)

Oh yeah... one other note. If I hear you went down there fishing without calling me your in big trouble !!! I'm only 20 minutes away. Give me a call and we'll fish it together Bigfishtackle.com style. [cool] (Besides... I still have your maple surup that I needed to get to you) [:p]

If you decide to make the hike to Tippy let me know... I'll pitch in some gas money and ride it with ya.
