[cool]Sorry, Halibut. No first-borns. I have been trying to get rid of mine for years. No demand for 'em.
Tube Babe likes to remind me that "He who dies with the most toys...is still dead.". She also reminds me that my life expectancy is equivalent to me taking care of her gear and keeping her supplied with the "right stuff".
It is not a competition, my friend. I have invested continuously over a long period of time, and my dividends are being able to share with others what I have learned. I sometimes wonder what my fishing career would have been if some nice person would have just told me everything I needed to know...many long years ago. But then I stop to think that "THE JOURNEY IS IT'S OWN REWARD". The learning process is almost as much fun as the ultimate enjoyment of catching fish on the creations of your own design.
I sometimes scare the heck out of myself trying to guess how much it would cost to replace the wall in those pics. Obviously, there are things that could never be replaced, for any amount. But the total value, in dollars and cents, in nothing compared to the fun I have had in experimenting and the enjoyment I have had in using and sharing the results.
As I try to convince my better half, all of that stuff is vital and necessary. Life, as I know it, would be impossible without my wall of goodies. But, it is amazing how many new things are coming out every day that cry for a place in all those boxes and bins. Keeps life interesting...and makes me keep working to support my habit.
