here's my thoughts,

this is an "idiot law" made up to make people think that the government is doing something about the flood of invasive species. Meaning any one who thinks this aditional permit mandated on individual boaters will stop commerce from bringing in non native plants and animals from other regeons of the world is an idiot.
If they wanted to do something, make every one have to take a boaters test and have a boaters endorcement on their state drivers license if they want to drive a boat, and put it on thier regular drivers license showing they know about transporting non native species.
A simple short non envasive test seperate that you will have to pass 100% in order to get a license to drive a boat, The boat is not the one who is willingly transporting the invasive species, its the Driver.....![[Image: surprised.gif]](http://www.bigfishtackle.com/images/gforum/surprised.gif)
by putting an expence of another sticker permit on a boat is just another way for "I realy dont know" its a dose nothing permit. makes absolutly no sence to me...
Wouldnt it be easier to make a mandate to dump ballast in the oceans before entering our fresh waters?
wouldnt it be easier to make a mandate to dump live well water from local fishing boats before leaving a lake?
how about a ban on the transportation of live fish with out a permit any where in the contry? weather they be for pets or not? that would make more sence to me... We already have to have a permit in michigan to transport our live minnow baits.
there is just a few simple laws needed to protect the environment, but for comercial greed our government will slap chains on the individual and egnore the real problems.
WE had laws that protected our environment, thanks to the clinton reagon and bushes administrations those environmental laws were wiped off the books... No longer do imports have to sit in quarenteen for 30 days before it is alloud to be unpacked and shipped inland, now it is drop ship right to its destination where pest of all kinds turn up in a matter of days.
