[cool]You make an excellent point. That is that in unity there is strength.
Two of my favorite words over the years have been "PROACTIVE" and "REACTIVE" The question is are you willing to do what is necessary to MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN...or are you willing to settle for what somebody else wants for you. In this life, settling for whatever happens, without taking a stand, seldom has a happy outcome.
So, it is true. If you do not like a potential situation, get together with a group of others with similar beliefs. Then, get involved. I suspect that there are few individual members of the PETA movement who are strong enough and intimidating enough to ever get anything done on their own. However, when you can get thousands of people all standing together and making the same noises it is effective. Maybe it just antagonizes people, but it gets recognition for your cause.
The problem with most "sportsmen", however, is that they HAVE A LIFE. They are involved in doing things with friends and family, and those things are often the things that PETA and others are trying to get outlawed. Active sportsmen just cannot comprehend giving up valuable fishing or hunting time to gather in a room and listen to someone rant and rave about something...even if it happens to be something they believe in. They would rather be doing something constructive...like hunting or fishing.
So, sportsmen can be their own worst enemies. They strongly object to what others are trying to do to them, but they either can't or won't invest their own personal time and effort in combatting it with a group effort.
I do not think you offended anyone, except those who recognize the truth in what you say.
