[unimpressed]Dry Rod, that looks kinda like a variation of the improved cinch knot.
I think I see why it failed the Knot strength test. It has a lot of crossovers that are trapped and being pinched down on.
I used to have a link to a knot page where the knots were animated and you could count the laps and crossovers as the knot tied itself in knots right before your eyes.
It's hard to discuss knots for Fly fishing when we have an inch of snow on the ground and the wind is gusting to 20 Mph.
I'll get some string and try those knots in the last post.

PS: I've never had a knot failure with that tripple overhand knot I've been using. Dont know what its called.
Come to think of it, the Blood knot is another knot I've never experienced a failure either.
How about a Bowline? That would leave have great knot strength and never come apart. I may practice that one to see if I could do it on the stream with chilly fingers and watery eyes.
