Some species are more affected by moon phases than others. My experience is that in clean water, with a lot of bait, predatory fish tend to sight feed more at night and less after sunup. However, there are lots of other species that feed anytime they can find food...or only during daylight hours.
Bigger factors in fish moods are water clarity and temperature, barometric pressure, tides and currents, spawning activity, bait availability, etc. At least these provide just as good an excuse for getting zipped as moon phases.
Better to have fished and lost, than never to have fished at all.
