just wondering if any one is working on something for the upcomming ice season?
Ya I know the maters aint even ripe yet, but they are big enuff to fry...[] I have been eating summer and zukiny squash green peppers and hot peppers out of my garden for a week now.
I was thinking that on these hot sweltering daze and rainy daze that some one might be tinkering in the garage or basement planning up some new kind of jig or fly for ice season....
as you have seen I am working on a hunting shack that if I play me card right I will be using it for ice fishing season...
I am natorious for spending my time on seasons to come rather than the ones at hand, mostly because when It is time to go I dont want to be having to make rigs and what nots, I just want to go... I guess I am kind of weird that way. well maybe it is lazyness that makes me just want to grab my stuff and go... LOL...
a store near me closed out this past month, "Farmer Jacks" and every thing was more than half off, any way I found me a turky injector baisting things. any way it has a metal neadle that is perfect for injecting my favorite stinks in to soft plastics for ice season... This is my first plan for the up comming ice season...
Ya I know I am setting my self up for a big let down if I dont get any ice like in years past, but one still needs to be ready if and when the oppertunity presents it self. In other words, Is it better to be let down or kicking my self in the bum for not being ready?
I think I will pull out the ice auger when I get the shack done and get it ready, I havent fired it up in three years now. I think it is due for a start. any thing under 12 inches of ice I will drill by hand. 15 and more I will go to the big auger, It drills a 12 inch hole, takes for ever, but it stays open for days too. []
have to keep an eye open for be hives too, I want to rob a few for bait. I had loads of luck using wasp in the winter when they make the mistake of waking up during the january thaw.[crazy] getting them on the hook live is a bit tricky if you are keeping them worm in your pocket, you have to get them good and cold before you run your arberdeen hook though them. and then you have to do it fast because you dont want the heat from your hands thawing them out either, [shocked]
