Why would you need it/want it? Because it's new and everyone else would drool at it. Why do you need 3 300's on the back of a 30ft contender? Same reason.
The 36 I designed had twin 315 diesel for a 45 mph cruise and 55mph top end. 330 gals for 700 miles at 40mph or 1200 miles at 30mph. operating cost per hour including fuel and maintenance is under $65. Compare it to a boat with twin 300 outboards and you jump to $117 but nobody drools over a diesel. At least not until you tell them how much you saved.[
