Drop shotting and standout hooks

I've done drop shot fishing for bass a few times. I've only tried the standard technique with a weight a foot or two below a plastic. I haven't tried the stand out hooks. I've heard a few people that did not like the stand out hooks. I'm sure the stand out hooks have there place but I don't have any intentions of buying them anytime soon.
