It's funny you mention the heated line. I at one time thought real hard about how to get the guides to heat up. I came up with a pretty good solution and may just try it out one day on a cheap rod blank. The only draw back to my design would be a little extra weight but I'd give up a lighter rod for ice free guides in the winter any day.
