'jumps' are also known as 'boils'...it's when predator fish (ie. white bass, stripers, bass, etc) force large schools of baitfish (shad)to the surface. The baitfish will be jumpin out of the water as the predators are hittin them from below. They are spectaculor to watch...welll they were to me! [cool]

I witnessed 'boils' or 'jumps' for the first time ever several weeks ago on the cumberland river. I caught a couple smaller stripers (or rockfish) out of the action. If your in a boat, you can not power over to them, as the disturbance of the boat rapidly approaching will startle all the fish and the activity will end.
